Anyone who knew Ferruccio Lamborghini will remember his creativity and his sense of aesthetics (just think of his famous sports cars). So it\u2019s no wonder to learn that in the 60s, struck by the harsh and sweet landscape at the same time, he chose Umbriato to retire from the famous car business and return to its origins: agriculture. Situated on the border between Umbria and Tuscany, Cortona and the Chiana valley are only a few kilometers away from the estate. The property was purchased in the 60\u2019s by Ferruccio Lamborghini who, traveling in this area, fell in love with the soft rolling hills landscape.<\/p>\n

After his retirement from the famous car manufacturing activity he decided to go back to his roots: being a farmer.<\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

He started to plant different grape varieties both red and white; beyond the traditional Sangiovese and Ciliegiolo, the choice went also to Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, unusual varieties at that early stage.<\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
